Special call for presentations from thought leaders on the expansion of AI, EV electrification and the impact on society,
– or macro trends battery users and producers should focus on.
Speak at Battcon 2026
The Battcon Technical Committee is now accepting abstracts for peer review. If you’ve tackled real-world battery challenges, explored new technologies or improved critical power systems, this is your chance to be heard.
Accepted abstracts become peer-reviewed papers, published in the Battcon archive and shared with an audience of utilities, data centers, telecom operators, battery manufacturers and service providers.
Battcon events dates:
July 26th, 2026 – pre conference seminars
July 27th – 29th 2026 – Conference
Battcon Location – Orlando, Florida
Call for Content
The Battcon technical committee is seeking abstracts (to eventually become papers if accepted) for peer-review, by Battcon.
The published papers will be available on the Battcon website archive. The papers focus on stationary batteries, geared mostly towards an end-user audience.
Feel free to submit a non-commercial (focus on the technology, method, or standardized practice, not the product or company) abstract on whatever subject related to stationary batteries you think might have an interest to an end-user audience consisting primarily of electric utility, data center, telecom, firefighting professionals, and stationary battery service companies.
Abstracts related to batteries that normally move (such as EVs) are welcome, but only if they tie back to stationary applications in some shape or form (for example, V2X, or battery backup at charging stations).
The proposed paper can also focus on related subsystems (chargers, inverters, DC distribution, etc.), as long as there is significant discussion of the tie-in to the batteries.
This call also includes other content, and the committee is looking for individual contributors for other parts of the interactive agenda. These contributions include:
- Posters, this serves as great way for students or engineer/operators at the beginning of their career to share some of their work.
- Pre or post conference sessions, serve as the cornerstone of Battcon and contributors get to demonstrate their leadership and expertise in relevant industry topics.
- Moderators and panelists, do you have voice and message and want to share? Please let us know if there are panel topics or especially contributions you would like to make as a panelist or moderator.
Here are some potential (but not limited to) subjects that are of interest to the Battcon technical committee
Sustainability (ESG) for stationary batteries
– TCO and the role of carbon credits
– Batteries or other types of “generation” vs diesel generators for longer term backup
Battery Fire Hazards, Mitigation, and Response
Hazard Mitigation Analysis for an AHJ, a walkthrough
Battery technologies for SMRs
Battery systems and considerations for hyperscale and AI data centers
– Use of batteries to stabilize power.
– Use of batteries to stabilize power.
– GPU power consumption and the use of energy storage to prevent damaging behind the meter generation
- Discussion of the energy and power requirements needed for AI data centers
Pack design and thermal management of lithium ion, how it has changed- Integration and motivation from fire codes
– Fire suppression, prevention, and detection mechanisms
– The issues related with high capacity ESS containers, such as shipping, cooling, and fire safety.
Installation and/or Maintenance of Stationary Batteries
– Training the stationary battery workforce
– Internal Ohmic testing
– Intercell/bloc/module Connector Installation/Maintenance
Proper charging regimes (application-specific)
Microgrids
– Rural and village-based grids
– Mobile Microgrids for disaster recovery or other uses
Battery management and/or monitoring systems. Industrial UPS
– Alternative battery technologies for industrial UPS (backups longer than 15 minutes)
– Momentary loads
